I came across a reference tht might be of some interest to you, if you
haven’t already seen it. On pages 150-156 of his book “Lapham’s
Raiders,” Robert Lapham describes the night of August 31, 1944, when the
Narwhal made its first visit to Luzon and unloaded 30 tons of supplies
for Lapham and Bernard Anderson. After unloading, the sub left that
night as I understand it.
On page 153, Lapham states that “Parsons gave Anderson $50,000 in
American money on September 1, 1944.” This implies that Chick Parsons
remained behind on Luzon after the sub left–unless Lapham means the
very early morning of Sept. 1. Do you know if he did, in fact, stay on
Luzon for a while in 1944, as he did on Mindanao early in 1943?
Best regards, Chris.
